1. FC Magdeburg has a new U23 coach. Ronny Thielemann returns to the club and takes over the U23. The 52-year-old Thielemann looks back on a long career as a player and coach. He was already seven years old as a trainer at 1. FC Magdeburg and stood at the sidelines of U17 and U19. After stations in Rostock, Zwickau and Braunschweig, Thielemann worked for two years as a co-trainer at U19 RB Leipzig. "When filling the position of our Regionalliga team, it was particularly important for us to find someone who knows our club and its values, but also lives them and has already accumulated a wealth of experience in accompanying and developing top talents", explained sports director Peer Jaekel the choice of Thielemann. The new U23 head coach is very happy to be able to work at the old workplace. "Our goal is to pave the way for young players early on and prepare them as well as possible for the demands of the professional sector." In the past season, the Magdeburgs finished as promoted on a strong ninth place.
