Herbert Bockhorn extends contract with 1. FC Magdeburg. The 31-year-old remains with the club. Bockhorn was originally set to leave the club in the last home game, but now there is a change of heart. The 31-year-old has extended his contract with 1. FC Magdeburg and will remain with the club for the upcoming season, as announced by the FCM in a press release. Herbert Bockhorn (31, v.) impressed particularly in the past few weeks with sovereign performances. In the summer of 2024, there was a similar scenario with the defender. At that time, the signs were on departure, but in June, the turnaround came and Bockhorn extended his expiring contract once again. In the recent season, the Ugandan was plagued by injuries for a long time, but in the past few weeks, he played himself into a decisive factor in the fight for the championship. In the last seven games of the season '25/26, he was in the starting lineup and helped to four wins. That's why the FCM is all the happier to continue the cooperation: "We are very happy that Herbie has decided to extend his contract with the FCM. He has made a big impact in the decisive phase of the past season", says Sport Director Peer Jaekel (43) in the press release. Bockhorn himself is also happy about the stay at the Elbe: "I have been here in Magdeburg for almost four years now, the FCM has become my longest career station in professional football. I feel very comfortable in the club and in the city", says the 31-year-old.
