1. FC Magdeburg has signed 26-year-old forward Torben Müsel. The striker joins the club on a free transfer from Rot-Weiss Essen after his contract with the third-division team expired. The club has not disclosed the length of his new contract. Müsel has an impressive career that began in the youth teams of 1. FC Kaiserslautern. He made his debut in the 2. Bundesliga in September 2017. After further appearances, Borussia Mönchengladbach secured his services. He played two matches in the Bundesliga and became a junior national player. In the winter transfer window of 2021/22, he moved on loan to KAS Eupen in Belgium, where he made nine appearances. After returning to Germany, he joined Rot-Weiss Essen in January 2023, where he scored 27 goals and provided ten assists in 141 competitive matches. FCM sporting director Peer Jaekel spoke positively about Müsel: "Torben Müsel has recently shown in the 3. Liga that he is an absolute top scorer with plenty of experience and game understanding. His timing in the box is particularly impressive." With this signing, 1. FC Magdeburg strengthens its offense and hopes for a successful season in the 2. Bundesliga.
