However, there are still open questions regarding the future of players like Philipp Hercher, Silas Gnaka, and Marcus Mathisen. Mathisen, in particular, who contributed significantly to the defensive stability last season, is a player many FCM fans would like to see in the blue-and-white kit next year. Mathisen recently confirmed that he has an offer from the club and feels comfortable in Magdeburg. The FCM aims to start training with a nearly complete squad, making quick decisions on open personnel matters crucial. Another key player, Laurin Ulrich, is also still unresolved. Reports suggest that Bundesliga club Augsburg and UD Levante are interested in him. Ulrich was instrumental in securing the league's status last season, and coach Petrik Sander emphasized how important it would be to keep him in the team. His absence in the last match against Kaiserslautern highlighted how much the FCM relies on him. However, Ulrich is only under contract with VfB Stuttgart until 2027, complicating the situation. Nevertheless, sporting director Peer Jaekel has already demonstrated his ability to handle such challenges this transfer summer.
