1. FC Magdeburg has defeated VfL Bochum 4-1 in front of 25,000 fans, collecting much-needed points in the relegation battle. The team of coach Petrik Sander remains unbeaten for the third game in a row. The FCM celebrates its first home win in over four months. The last home win was on November 29, 2025, with a 3-0 victory against Nürnberg. After that, the Blau-Weißen went six home games without a win. New sports director Peer Jaekel celebrates his FCM premiere on the bench and enjoyed the home win. Jaekel said: „I had goosebumps during the warm-up. The way the fans heated up the team was impressive.“ The FCM liberation began early. Ex-Bochumer Bockhorn crosses the ball into the penalty area, where Musonda waits and nods. Atik then picks the ball out of the air and scores the goal past Horn. But Bochum comes back. After a nice attack, Hofmann scores to make it 2-1. But the Magdeburg team is unstoppable. A double strike by Zukowski secures Magdeburg's first home win in over four months. The Pole increases his goal tally to 15 and takes the lead in the 2nd league. Jaekel on the FCM goal scorer: „We're glad to have him. I feel that he helps the team and that he's fully focused on making his contribution to staying in the league.“ The FCM now has 13 points and is in 13th place. VfL Bochum has 15 points and is in 10th place.
